As you drive around the West Berkshire countryside and it fields full of cows, sheep and wheat, you may well have reached the conclusion that Berkshire is not big on fruit and veg production. On the whole you'd be right but we do still produce some soft fruits, apples, rhubarb and asparagus. When we can we source our produce from these fantastic farmers like Pete and Avril Harrod at Bradfield PYO, Cobbs at Hungerford and Peachcroft Farm at Abingdon.
However, in order to provide you all with a bit of range, most of our fruit and veg comes from the 'gardens of England' namely Kent, Lincolnshire and Warwickshire. We also source garlic and tomatoes from the Isle of Wight.
Cobbs, our sister farm shop at Hungerford; have a small 55acres but perfect compact farm. They farm mostly soft fruits in the summer; which we stock here at Fielders from May to August. We stock their delicious rhubarb and the most amazing asparagus in the spring and in the autumn you can find enormous pumpkins and a huge variety of unsual squash on our shelves, all grown for us by Cobbs.
